Having a dog in the family should never make traveling more difficult or less frequent because you’re worried you won’t find a dog-friendly place to stay. Luckily, more and more hotels have changed their pet policies recognizing their guests are often traveling with their dog. For the people who absolutely do not feel comfortable leaving their dog at a pet boarding facility while traveling, a dog-friendly hotel is usually the next option. Hotels have even grown to provide amenities specifically for dogs to feel welcomed and relaxed when they get to stay with their owners.
- Keep an eye out on your dog while traveling
- Less worry about leaving them at home or with a family member
- Fun bonding experience
- Get your dog out of their comfort zone
- Make lasting memories
- The dog may be unfamiliar/scared of the environment
- Hotels may ask for a pet fee
-Worries about leaving your pet in a room for too long
Be mindful that a pet-friendly hotel is a place to bring your dog with you while traveling, not just to leave them cooped up inside the room. Hotels that do allow animals to stay usually do a good job of providing amenities that would benefit the owner and the employees as well. That being said, be sure to include your pets in your vacation plans whether you dine at local restaurants, go to the dog beach, or to the shops downtown!
This luxury boutique hotel offers cliffside ocean views and steps directly to the beach to dip your toes. They encourage you to bring your dog along to your trip to a very dog-friendly city. They do charge a dog fee of $100 non-refundable deposit and your dog must be under 40 lbs to be eligible to stay.
